Wen Guoning (翁国宁) met with Xi Jinping and UFWD head in Beijing
It was at the opening ceremony of the 10th Conference for Friendship of Overseas Chinese Association (第十届世界华侨华人社团联谊大会) in the Great Hall of the People (人民大会堂) in Beijing, P.R. China.
Weng Guoing stood in the very front row of 400+ conference delegates that were addressed by Xi Jinping this morning (on May 8, 2023).
Two other members from the Politburo Standing Committee (PSC), namely Wang Huning (王沪宁) and Cai Qi (蔡奇) also came to greet the conference delegates including Weng Guoning. The PSC is a political body made up of the 7 most powerful males in China including Xi Jinping himself.
Shi Taifeng (石泰峰), the head of the United Front Work Department (UFWD) of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. The UFWD is China’s key organization that focuses to influence people or entities that are outside the CCP, especially in overseas Chinese communities, who hold political, commercial, or academic influence, or who represent interest groups.
As reported by CCTV, Shi said that overseas Chinese have the unique advantage of bridging Chinese and foreign cultures, and they are an important bridge and connecting China with the world. He hopes that overseas Chinese will work together and practice the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind. He also hopes that they will write a new chapter in the new journey of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation (中华民族的伟大复兴) and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind (构建人类命运共同体).
The Conference for Friendship of Overseas Chinese Association is an important platform for major overseas Chinese organizations and their leaders around the world to communicate.
Wei Chengyi (魏成义), another Toronto businessman and the subject of investigations involving China’s political interference in Canada’s elections, attended the 9th Conference for Friendship of Overseas Chinese Association in 2019 and also met with Xi Jinping.
Weng’s organization is allegedly to be hosting one of China’s secret police stations in Toronto.
Weng Guoning is the Permanent Hournary Chairman of the Canada Toronto Fuqing Business Association (CTFQBA,加拿大多伦多福清商会).
The address of CTFQBA, Unit1/2 220 Royal Crest CT, Markham, Ontario, is the same as that of one of China's alleged overseas police stations in the Greater Toronto Area, according to a report by Safeguard Defenders, a human rights NGO in Spain.
Weng publicly praised China’s ‘overseas police stations,’ in 2022, according to a report on the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese (ACFROC,中国侨联), a peak organization in the CCP’s UFWD network that aims to influence the overseas Chinese.
During the spring festival of 2022, Weng was reported to have met with Chinese local police at a meeting about advancing China’s ‘overseas police stations.’ Yu Lin (余燐), the vice president of CTFQBA, attended a similar meeting in the office of a local police station in the Fujian province of China.
