‘Don’t rock the boat!’ Chinese-language media in Toronto hails Johnston’s report, citing CCP slogan

Canadian Chinese Media News (ccmedia.news, 加拿大华文融媒体新闻网), a Chinese-language website in Toronto, published an opinion piece praising David Johnston’s China interference report on Wednesday (May 24), the day immediately after Johnston released the report.
GTA website is ecstatic about Johnston’s report, claiming Canadian politicians should learn from Beijing's wisdom
The opinion piece, authored by ‘Editor 1’ is headlined ‘The first report is released: allegations against Han Dong are wrong’.
At the beginning of the piece, the author repeats a few conclusions in the report, such as ‘no evidence to prove China’s funds reached 11 Canadian candidates’, ‘no evidence to prove Han Dong suggesting China lengthen the imprisonment of two Michaels’, etc.
After that, the piece concluded,
‘This shows that most of the recent accusations made by a few Canadian media outlets against Michael Chan, Wei Chengyi, Vincent Ke, Han Dong and other Canadian politicians of Chinese descent are not based on solid evidence and are not based on facts.
Johnston’s report also points out that the leaking of intelligence is illegal, a breach of responsibility, destructive and dangerous. It is imperative that every effort be made to track down the leakers, and that malicious intent be excluded.’
The piece described former GG David Johnston as ‘very prestigious with very high credibility’. But it never mentions the part of Johnston’s report that confirms China’s extensive interference in Canada.
In the latter half of the piece, the author talked about Coversative leader Pierre Poilievre, making foreign interference look like a partisan infight in Canada.
The author continued to say,
‘If both parties are occupied by endless bickering in the parliament, how can the people in power have the energy and time to deal with national issues and the well-being of the people?
This is true for any party in power.
It is necessary to monitor and criticize the ruling party, but it is not the same as a reckless partisan fight. Are the well-being of the people and national security overruled by the selfish interests of your party?
Canada is a large country, rich in resources, with a small population. The Canadian people deserve and can live a better life than they do now.
Can you and your two parties put your energy and skills into improving the country's economics and raising the living standards of the people?’
The author suggests that Canadian politicians learn from the wisdom of the Chinese leaders, especially the former CCP supreme leader Hu Jintao (胡锦涛).
It says,
‘China has introduced the policy of ‘Do not rock the boat’, in the Hu Jintao era more than a decade ago. We, Chinese people, left China for Canada, but Canada turns out to be the country that is obsessed with boat-rocking activities?’
‘Do not rock the boat’, is the English translation of ‘不折腾’, a Chinese slang quoted by Hu Jintao in 2008 at the conference to celebrate the 30th anniversary of China’s reform and opening up to the West.
Ccmedia.news fervently advocates against a foreign agent registry in Canada
The ccmedia.news is a website in the greater Toronto area operated by Tom Kim (金宏), a Chinese-language writer.
It has published numerous articles promoting events hosted or attended by the Chinese Consulate officials in Toronto, including Zhao Wei (赵巍), the Chinese diplomat licked out of Canada a few weeks ago for targeting the family of Canadian MP Michael Chong (庄文浩).
Ccmedia.news has a specific channel for the Confederation of Toronto Chinese Canadian Organizations (CTCCO), an umbrella organization that was said to be an unofficial lobby group for the Chinese Consulate General in Toronto.
Ccmedia.news has published many articles denying China’s interference in Canada and has been avidly advocating against a foreign agent registry. For example, there are a number of videos of Senator Yuen Pau Woo and Senator Victor Oh campaigning against the foreign agent registry, and a long webpage with photos and video clips about a luxury car parade in Toronto calling on Canada to investigate the CSIS leaks and oppose a foreign agent registry.
The logo of Ccmedia.news, which is displayed at the bottom of every webpage of its site, is a flying phoenix in the shape of the letter C.
At the head of the phoenix, is the Chinee national flag. Following the flag are four pictures, which from left to right are: a Chinese dancing show; Canadian PM Justin Trudeau; China’s former Toronto Consul-General Han Tao (韩涛); and a 2019 event held by CTCCO to support the Hong Kong police’s violent crackdown on the pro-demoracy protests. Ontario senior politician Michael Chan, CTCCO leaders Weng Guoning and Wei Chengyi, are all in the picture.
