Chinese Consul-General endoresed Toronto group suspected of hosting China’s ‘overseas police stations' by attending its new year gala
Three officials at China’s Consulate-General in Toronto attended the Chinese new year gala hosted by the Canada Toronto Fuqing Business Association (CTFQBA, 加拿大多伦多福清商会), an organization under investigation in the RCMP’s probes into China’s unofficial police stations in Canada, according to a report on the WeChat channel of the Chinese Consulate-General in Toronto.
Liu Linlin 刘林林 (Commercial Counselor), Li Tong 李彤 (Counselor), and Jiang Sheng 江胜 (Counselor) of the Chinese Consulate-General in Toronto went to the gala on Jan. 2023, at the invitation of the hosting organization.
Liu Linlin 刘林林 (Commercial Counselor gave a speech at the gala, encouraging the CTFQBA to advance the continuous development of business between China and Canada and to promote China-Canada relations to get on the right track soon.
Wei Chengyi 魏成义, Permanent Honorary Chairman of the CTCCO, and Yu Lin 余燐, vice president of CTFQBA, wished a happy new year to all the guests at the party, according to a report on ccmedia.news, a Chinese-language website in Ontario.
Wei Chengyi 魏成义, a high-profile community leader in Toronto, was the subject of investigations involving China’s political interference in Canada’s elections and is suspected of being the proxy for the Chinese Consulate to transfer funds to 11 federal candidates in Canada, according to reports by Canadian journalist, Sam Cooper.
Yu Lin 余燐 was reported to have met with Chinese local police in Fuqing City in 2022 to discuss the operations of China’s ‘overseas police stations’, according to reports on Chinese government websites.
